  1. Hi, I operate the land auction website linked to in this article. I noticed the link from your site today, and was disappointed to find the auction on our site. Our auctions are automated listings from eBay, and listing like this sometimes slip through the cracks. I also don't condone or support actions like those taken by coal producers and similar "developers" in the Northeast, and auction listings like this are not the reason our site was created.

The auction has been deleted from out database, however you can find the actual auction here:

Thanks for your efforts to improve your region and our environment, and thank you for bringing this to my attention.

  2. So, if you don't want to produce natural gas and oil where do you plan on getting the fuel to burn in your car and your home? Every time you turn on the furnace in your house where do you think that heat is coming from? Try to stop driving or turn the furnace off for a week. See how that feels. Yes you may have solar or wind generation but if you do you are a select few who can afford it. There is no short term fix. We have to keep producing fossil fuels until there is a feasible alternative Hydraulic fracturing is currently the best way to increase production from a well. Otherwise we would have a shortage of supply and not only would the price skyrocket but we would have to import more LNG and crude from foreign countries. That in turn keeps us dependent on them and funds there terrorists ways. The ground water that we drink is thousands of feet above these hydrocarbon formations. It is separated by solid rock, not soil like you may find on the surface. Oil and gas companies are strictly watched by the state and federal government to make sure that the ground water formation do not get breached. Sure you may have the occasional accident but that is part of the game. Do you stop flying on airlines just because there was a crash that killed 250 people? No. Some risks have to be taken to provide us with our way of life but for 99.99 percent of the time we do not have any problems.

  3. Also, as far as your videos go, why don't you find someone who knows what they are talking about. Like maybe an engineer. What you have here is like taking a fast food employee and telling them to explain how a jet engine works. Sure they could study up a little to stumble through and sound like they know what they are talking about but in all reality it is not their expertise and have no clue. Interviewing a person off the street and asking them why hydraulic fracturing is polluting our water is ridiculous. As far as the video of the fluids being pumped out to surface pay attention that there is a plastic liner on the pit. These liners are very thick and contain the fluids quite well. In earlier days it used to be pumped on the ground. Now, even with "no inspectors", most E&P companies are playing by the rules. Occasionally some fluids are pumped onto the ground but it is quickly cleaned up and hauled to a disposal site. The oil leaking from the millions of cars on the road is a far worse situation than the occasional spill of drilling fluids but nobody is preaching about that. As far as the millions and billions of dollars that the E&P companies are making, a huge portion of that money goes to taxes. One large recipient of these taxes is our schools. Without this revenue we would have a much poorer education system than we already have. As far as the roads being damaged, overweight trucks must purchase a permit from the state to operate these rigs on government maintained roads. This funding is used to repair the damage created by them. If you want your roads repaired asked the state where all that money went that they required these companies to buy permits with. And just because they are huge, heavy pieces of equipment doesn't mean that they put more pressure on the surface. Most rigs have multiple axles to distribute the weight to a safe level. A truck hauling supplies to a grocery store puts down just as much weight per square inch.
